The Beauty of Knits for Winter
Warm yet stylish. Lloyd Boston, author of Before You Put That On and frequent fashion consultant on Oprah,
says a must have for this winter season includes quality knits. According to Boston, women of all ages can be
comfortable and still be chic when choosing knits. Quality knit garments will enhance a woman’s wardrobe and
her style. Examples of hot trends include great knit wraps, chunky sweaters. Kermit Engh, owner of Fashion
Cleaners, has a wealth of experience caring for several knits during the winter season.
When someone thinks of knits, they think of St John Knit outfits. One of the finest investments women can
choose, this designer is famous for their Santana Knit and that fabric content is 80% wool and 20% rayon.
Additionally, this knit travels well because it is wrinkle resistant and packs nicely. St John Knits classic
styles and fabrics are long-lasting and can be enjoyed for years with proper care.
To ensure the lifetime of any beautiful knits, Engh recommends people follow these simple rules:
- After making a purchase, make sure to fold knits and lay them flat in drawers. Engh has seen firsthand
that too many people stretch out and elongate their knit items by hanging them up in the closet.
- When taking these knits to the cleaners, ask about covering and protecting the buttons, zipper pulls,
paillettes and crystals. The solutions used can cause the stones to come loose and fall out. At Fashion
Cleaners, any button that is decorative, fragile or unique is removed before being cleaned and carefully
replaced afterwards, according to Engh.
- Do not rub in a stain. Blot it and send it to the cleaners as soon as possible. Engh also suggests noting
what the stain is because it will be much easier to diagnose and treat.
- At the end of the winter season, Engh recommends storing knits and other winter clothes appropriately to
avoid moth damage.
